Queso, this week was awesome even though there wasn't much actual teaching done...here it goes!
Monday,
which was like half a p-day, was a fantastic day for contacting people!
It was amazing how much success we had! That was really a cool thing. I
never wanna do p-day on Monday again now! Haha
Tuesday
we went to our volunteer orientation at the hospital and booked it to
District meeting after that. We had a really really great lesson from
Elder Trout on the BoM in our teaching. Plus, while waiting to be picked
up at the mall, we ran into one of our investigators, Elizabeth! That
was awesome, because we hadn't seen her in a while. Tender mercy!
We
visited a somewhat new family in the ward, and that was cool because we
spent like 2 hours helping them clean their house and easy the burden
of new parenthood a little bit :) Plus we got a really good lesson in
with them. We bought Krispy Kreme afterwards for dinner because it was
like 8:30 and why not?
We
literally ran a mile that night trying to catch a bus. I don't know
where the energy to run that came from. But we caught the bus seconds
before it arrived! That was seriously the Lord in our evening.
Wednesday
I got a throwback to the good only in-training days. Sister Ipson and I
took the day together while Sister Case went with my two companions to
the temple. We had a great time working the booth at the university,
taking some p-day time, and talking to people. We ate Qdoba that evening
with the temple girls and Bro and Sis Boston. Then we visited with
Sister Lindsay, our favorite person on this earth who is watching over
her fiance in the ICU from Rexburg. She lights up my day :)
Thursday
we managed to contact a potential who we have a lot of hope for. He
seems really cool! We managed to see several other people that day, but
not Sis. Lindsay...things were getting worse and she needed her time
with Mark.
Friday
we got to run the family history booth at Polish Fest! It was SO MUCH
FUN! We went walking around the fest during our lunch break and
seriously, our booth was the busiest place there. I wish we'd had more
computers and more supplies. We barely had seconds of rest between
people as we helped them find their ancestors. It is amazing to see the
Spirit of Elijah work in people!
We met a sweet woman facing hard times named Eve. I really hope we can help her out...pray for her!
Saturday
was All-Mission Conference! This NEVER happens in real life, so it was
an amazing opportunity to see ALL the missionaries together in the same
place! President Dallin H Oaks presided, with C Whitney Clayton from the
Presidency of the Seventy, then Elders Nielson, Ward, and Funk of the
Seventy. President Oaks couldn't remember ever having that many people
with him at something like this. We all got to shake their hands, which
took like an hour, then heard from each of them. It was wonderful.
Missionary work is SO hastening!
I
got to say a prayer in front of an apostle. Is that a good thing? I
don't know. But it went well, and I got to shake his hand again, so I'll
count my blessings :) He's SUPER nice and funny. He informed us that
President Monson is doing better than he has in years, even though he
was a mess shortly after his wife's death. Now he looks younger than he
has in a long time!
We took an all-mission photo. That was cool. With President Oaks :)
We
got home and Sister Hatch took some packing time while Sister Milligan
and I did comp study. Then we visited several people and saw some cool
tender mercies. We visited Sister Lindsay, and ate dinner with her at
the hospital. Things aren't good, but I beleive in miracles! I really
really do. At this point though our hopes are that he and she will have
peace. She was able to find out that she could be sealed to him because
they do have their marriage license. That was the major concern.
Happy Father's Day!
We
got to meet Mark's sister, Jane, who is helping Sister Lindsay work out
the little details. Bishop came and gave Mark a blessing while we were
there, and I was amazed at the absolute peace I felt. I didn't have any
desire to cry during the blessing, or any time after. None of us we
crying in sadness...it was just shock or something. But then even that
went away and we were just...happy. Everything will be okay. Unless
there is a miracle, they're going to remove life support today (Monday)
and I honestly don't know which of the two is going to happen, but I'm
just so satisfied by something. Everything is perfectly okay. What a
blessing this gospel is!
This ward is incredible. Sister Lindsay would back me up on that :)
I
love being able to work in this area that I'm in and with these people.
I've learned so much in the last few weeks. I can't imagine how much I
will grow by the end of my mission. I can't look at the world the same
ever again...I can't imagine not having this truth so pervasive in my
life. What peace!
Love you all :D Sorry it's so long!
Sister Neal
