We
taught this lady named Shanell for the second time this week...it was
really intense! She didn't believe any of it. Or anything from last
time. She wasn't willing to say it wasn't true, but she didn't
understand the importance of praying about it either. At all.
Personally, prayer for answers is like a no-brainer...but not to some!
We're still hopeful we'll be able to do something for her because she
really is seeking for truth--she just doesn't have any idea how to
recognize it. But we'll help her out :)
I
spent all last week out of my area so I'm not totally sure what's new
here, but this week it's Sister Newton who gets to spend all week away
from the homeland...so I'll be catching up :)
We
played volleyball again this week. I don't like sports much, but it was
actually really really fun last thursday. I think because we all loved
and trusted each other and no one judges each other. Heaven's gonna be a
nice place :) Quentin came and had a ball! He also came to district
sports today...but suffice to say some elders are very immature and it
wasn't nearly as fun :(
A
new family moved into the ward and they are great!! We ate dinner with
them yesterday and had a fantastic time. Although I found out that the
new Percy Jackson book came out last month and that's...yeah. Wishing I
could read it. But then again, (as Sista Newton and I commonly say,)
"Ain't nobody got time fah dat!"
ChyAnne,
a nine year old we're teaching, is the daughter of a woman who has been
going in and out of church for years and generally not been on great
terms with the commandments. But she bore her testimony in sacrament
meeting and was like "I've gone in and out a lot...but this time, I'm
here to stay!!" It almost made me cry.
Note
to parents/leaders: Never get angry at a child for being honest with
you about a mistake they've made. Who ever wants to be honest again when
they get yelled at? Exactly...that's bad parenting, and it comes with
leadership positions too. Just don't do it. People generally want to be
better than they are. Give them the benefit of the doubt. Especially
when they confess.
So
funny story! The sisters we were on exchanges with this week walked off
with out phone. They live almost two hours away. We figured it out
after driving away for twenty minutes, then immediately pulled over and
the manager at Walgreens (Walgreens is EVERYWHERE here) was super nice
and let us use the office phone. I tried calling all my old areas hoping
that they could get the sister's number or something so we could get in
contact with them, but no one answered. What would you do at this
point?
We did the obvious thing....we called OUR phone....they answered :) We felt kinda dumb. Lol.
So...five months and three weeks until general conference!!! Can't wait :D
People
in Wisconsin go all OUT for holidays! But especially Halloween. The
earliest decorations were out by the first of September. It's getting
kinda crazy now! I just...do not like Halloween. Bring on the
Christmas!!
Anyways...love you guys! How's the missionary work going on elsewhere?
