12.23.13: Quentin Got BAPTIZED!!!!

This was the best week ever because Quentin got baptized. And he's so ridiculously solid that I have no reason to fear for him ever :) He's absolutely amazing. He has so much support and love and beyond that he just understands that it's not even about that, although of course that helps. He knows this is really about Truth.
Tender beyond tender beyond tender mercies :)
The mission split a zone, which was pretty exciting. The work is moving forward!!! Even though it means there's gonna be way too many people in Leadership now. I like small groups :/
I love when you and your companion are on the same wavelength and we can hardly prepare for a lesson, but go in with a direction and the Spirit and that's all we need, because we both know how to work as part of a companionship and we both know how to follow the Spirit. It's really awesome. I can always rely on Sister Newton :)
Chad is awesome because even though he can't be baptized for a while he still wants to learn and is slowing becoming more converted. People are great. Sometimes.
Then there's those people that never should have gotten baptized. And that's really irritating. Don't baptize people who aren't ready, people! It's like twice as hard to help them later. Found out one of the girls we've been working with got baptized less than a month after the missionaries met her--then went pretty much inactive. She got activated a few months ago (after about a year) and this month the exactly same thing happened where she just didn't want to see us or talk to us anymore and is basically inactive again. Bleh. She doesn't have any understanding of the commitment that church is/should be. Missionaries should NOT be bestie's with their investigators until the gospel connection has been established. We want lasting, converted peeps!
There was winter storm Alice or something this week? Anyway, we got lots of snow. Almost got stuck like 5 times (seriously) but never completely stuck. It was interesting when we going to visit a potential who is really good friends with a lot of the members, and got stuck in her driveway for like 5 minutes right as Bro Vanderheyden drove up to clear it. He got to watch us struggle, lol :P Later, Quentin got to watch our poor 2-wheel drive struggle up a hill while he was behind us on the way to institute. Haha.
We threw together a musical number Friday night for Quentin's baptism on Saturday. And it was SUPER AWESOME. Emily and Sister Newton sing like angels :) The spirit was really strong. We also had 8-year-old twins we'd been working with get baptized an hour earlier. They are so cute.
Because of the winter storm, we only had sacrament meeting. Which I don't get, because the weather wasn't even that bad, yet every other set of missionaries we've talked had church get cancelled completely. But we demanded it go on, because Quentin needed the Holy Ghost. And it was awesome when he got it :) Did I mention how awesome this kid is?
